Takrouna

A Berber village on a rocky peak.
Takrouna perches on a rocky outcrop above the plain near Enfidha, its stone houses and white domes almost growing out of the rock. The climb is short and the view across the olive groves of the Sahel is vast.
The village was the scene of fierce fighting in 1943, during the Second World War, involving New Zealand troops. Today it is quiet, with a sense of being on top of the world.
