Three temples standing side by side.
At Sbeitla, ancient Sufetula, three Roman temples stand side by side on the forum, entered through a monumental gate. It's one of the most photogenic ancient sites in the country, especially in the low light of morning.
Sbeitla also marks a turning point: in 647 it was the scene of the battle in which Arab armies defeated the Byzantine prefect Gregory, opening a new chapter in the region's history.
