Ancient quarries and falcons at the end of Cap Bon.
At the very end of the Cap Bon peninsula, El Haouaria looks out towards Sicily. Its most striking sight lies below the cliffs: the Ghar el Kebir caves, a series of huge chambers cut by quarrymen who supplied stone to Carthage in antiquity.
The village is also known for its falconry tradition, and the headland is a key point on the route of migrating birds. It feels a long way from anywhere, in the best sense.
