The pottery town of Cap Bon.

Nabeul has made pottery for centuries, and the craft is still everywhere: in workshops on the edge of town, in shop windows stacked with glazed plates, in tiles set into doorways. It is the place to understand why Tunisian ceramics look the way they do.

The region is also the heart of Cap Bon's agriculture, known for its citrus, its peppers and the harissa made from them. The ruins of ancient Neapolis lie by the shore, a reminder of how long people have lived well here.
