A lake where hundreds of thousands of birds spend the winter.

Lake Ichkeul and the mountain rising beside it form one of the most important wetlands in the Mediterranean. Each winter it hosts huge numbers of migratory waterbirds, from ducks to geese, which is why UNESCO added it to the World Heritage list in 1980.

Come in the cooler months with binoculars and patience. The park is a reminder that Tunisia's landscapes are as varied as its history.
