Nefta

A spiritual oasis on the edge of the salt lake.

A short drive from Tozeur, Nefta feels quieter and more contemplative. At its heart lies the Corbeille, a deep basin filled with palm trees and fed by springs, best seen from the cafés along its rim.

Nefta has long been an important centre of Sufism, and its many zaouias and mosques give it a gentle, spiritual atmosphere. Its domes and brick lanes reward a slow walk.
