Tozeur

Brick patterns, palm groves and the edge of the salt lake.
Tozeur is built of brick, and its old quarter, Ouled el Hadef, shows how beautiful that can be: walls laid in geometric patterns that turn gold in the late sun. Beyond it stretches an enormous palm grove, irrigated by springs and famous for its deglet nour dates.
To the south lies the Chott el Djerid, a salt lake so vast and flat that mirages are common. Tozeur is also the starting point for the mountain oases of Chebika, Tamerza and Mides.
